Residing in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Ed Northcott likes to use lots of
capital letters in his opening sentences. When not chained
to the drawing board or vehemently cursing his computer, Ed
can usually be found spending time with his wife and their
housepests (two dogs and a cat). For relaxation and fun he
spends time in his unheated basement clanging about iron
plates and screaming. The neighbours love him for
this. You may recognize Ed as the artist behind Guardians of
Order’s Silver Age Sentinels. He’s also done work for
Abstract Nova’s game, Heaven & Earth.
Ed is our July spotlight artist. We’ll be giving you more peeks into the game’s art and other artists as the months progress.

OK, so on the left we have Shiro confronting Uriel (sp? probably way out :-), on the right we see Harry handcuffed to Murphy. Who are those in the centre?
I’m guessing Marcone in front, with Cujo Hendricks in back, but who is the stroppy-looking female in between?
Ursiel on the left with Shiro (and Michael’s sword in the air above); Gentleman Johnny Marcone, Miss Gard, and Cujo Hendricks; Scorpion, Harry, and Murphy.
WOW! Vivid and wonderful! Didn’t get that it was Shiro in the first frame with the Fallen. Marcone turned out nicely, love the bull-dog look of Cujo Hendricks as well.
Harry and Murph look great, but I never thought of her hair as that straight and short. But hey, it works for her character and looks good!
Awesome job!
Having successfully complete 256 pages of the first book, and none others, I feel completely capable of expressing my ill-informed opinion.
The left panel I have no opinion other than I like the high contrast of Ursiel and the demon. Wonderful.
the middle panel, I’m digging Marcone. I dont know miss Gard or Hendricks. What I do like in the strong line and subtle shadowing. I always imagined Marcone as younger but harder.
the right panel, I always imagined Murphy as plumper and more muscular. Dresden is awfully Clive Owen-esque in the profile, but the expression is priceless.
The art is great and it fits nicely with how they are all described in the novels. However, I wanted to mention the slight shaded stubble on Harry, it is PERFECT!
Very nice work! Considering my own online alias is ‘Shiro’ everywhere I go, it’s always a little disconcerting to see it written here!
I never thought of Murph as like that. I always imagined her as shorter and a little plumpish. But then again, that’s how I imagined Vicki Nelson in Tanya Huff’s Blood series. Not a plug, Jim is way better!
I especially like the expression in Marcone’s face. It could be either menacing or kind. It’s like a holographic picture that constantly changes.
Oh my God…x.x I want to see more! I want to see moreeeee….It’s really good. It’s very much a comic book style kind of art isn’t it? I like it alot…seems to suit the characters well. I can’t wait to see all the characters put down in designs. ^-^ Especially Michael =^.^=
The illustrations almost look like Tarot cards.
The chick in the middle of the center panel is Marcones Magi for hire…. whatever her name is. (I’m too lazy to look it up) She was also the one that flew the chopper they used to chase down the train in Death Masks
That is some sweet looking artwork. This makes me want to see the game, and a Harry Dresden comic book, even more.
