Is this product going to eventually be available in hard copy? I would prefer hard copy to pdf.
We will make our plans w/r/t print after the art is in. If we do move it to print, it will likely be only as a print-on-demand item through DriveThruRPG. But that cart must come after the horse of the art and the upgrade to the digital-only version.
Thanks for the update, Fred. I got a preview PDF of the Space Toolkit during the Tachyon Squadron kickstarter campaign and truly love both books, so it’s nice to hear that the Space Toolkit may yet see physical existence as a PoD.
I know Evil Hat has already invested in a lot of other planned Toolkits, and think you’d find a ready audience for the remaining unpublished titles as PoD titles, even if you had to Kickstart for additional art and layout and offer PoD at cost as a Kickstarter reward– just a suggestion, but of course you know your business far better than I. Only mentioning this because a) it’d be a shame for this completed work to go unpublished, and b) We wants me preciousssss, yessss. I know you’re doing what you can and that you’re trying not to over-extend, but please do what you can to let me throw more Toolkit money at you LOL.
Thanks!
If there is a POD available, will there be a discount available for those that purchased the PDF?
Frankly, I don’t know DriveThruRPG’s POD program well enough to answer this. If they make it trivially easy, then yes. If they don’t, it’s unclear.
Is it possible to put this toolkit on Kickstarter, perhaps, in order to possibly get help with funds for art and maybe even a hardcover printing?
Hi Bryan,
With DriveThru we were funded for art so that is happening for sure. We wouldn’t kickstarter it, but pending sales a print run or POD offering may be in the works too.
Make more rules for playing Hard Science Fiction tropes. Here is what I like. No FTL! At best pseudo-FTL in terms of Stargates that have to be crearted and towed STL to other starsystem. No paragravity-either spin yer ship, make torch ship that constantly accelerates & invent advanced medical to solve zero-G health problems. No aliens and or if you have them don’t make them humanoid but truely alien.
That would be ultra-cool.
I suspect you’d get a lot out of the (pre-Fate Core) game Diaspora, James.
With almost a year on the net, could you provide us with a rough estimate of how well the toolkit is doing?
I’m looking forward to get the art added to it …
Hi Dirk, we put all project updates on the Project Status page that I update weekly (https://www.evilhat.com/home/project-status/). Suffice to say the art is all in. We had one piece that was the wrong dimensions, so we’re working on a way to fit it in now, but the final should be released very soon!
Hi Sean,
“released very soon” is an understatement. I just got mail from DriveThruRPG that the prototype has been updated.
I’ll enjoy the art on my way to work tomorrow morning.
Well… we like to under promise and over deliver when we can 🙂
I noticed that in the most recent update, something was mentioned about a print run? Any way to get in on that action?
It looks like they’ve got a preorder up for the print edtion.

Yeah, I found that link a little bit after I asked. Thanks!
This is great, but I can’t find any costs for the stunts. Anyone know anything about that?
Most stunts don’t have a cost other than “1 stunt slot”, so…?
So no discount for those who purchased the PDF?
