Let’s face it: most role playing games aren’t grab-and-go. Giant books and prep work out the ying-yang can be fun if you’ve got the time, but what if you don’t? What if you’re looking for a last minute game? What if you’re new to the RPG world and want a no hassle way to try one out? What if you’re introducing your kids to RPGs and want something easily accessible for them that won’t bore you to tears? We’ve got a solution: Fate Accelerated Edition.
Fate Accelerated, or FAE, is a condensed version of the popular Fate Core system that brings all the flexibility and power of Fate in an easily digestible—and quickly read—package. With FAE, you and your friends can step into the world of your favorite books, movies, and TV or you can create a world of your own. And set up is simple—you can be playing in minutes. Whether you’re new to RPGs or an expert gamer, FAE brings something special to the table.

I am putting together a modified FAE game on Discord… Mixed play by post and voice chat. Would I get in trouble for posting the rulebook in the server?
Fate Core, Fate Accelerated, and the Fate System Toolkit are available free/pay-what-you-like to the public right now: http://www.evilhat.com/home/fate-core-downloads and the game is also open licensed… not really a problem any way you slice it.
Heads up: You may want to give whoever setting prices for your books on Amazon a stern talking to. They’re selling FAE for $9.10. Nearly double. Amazon’s usually better than this with RPG books.
We have no ability to affect those prices, which are usually set by third-party sellers over whom we have no sway. It may be reflective of the fact that the book is a thin softcover, where the packaging costs for shipping it probably exceed the profit margin. (Not to mention it’s a little absurd to worry about someone on Amazon charging +$3 on a book (based on my recent search) when they routinely knock $5-$20 off the cover price of larger, meatier books.)
Quick question. I’m thinking of running a Fate Accelerated game but with 7 approaches, not 6, as it would fit the source material more thematically. What would the recommended bonuses be in that case (+3, +2, +2, +1, +1, +0, +0; i..e. add another 0 to the bottom end) or (+3, +2, +2, +1, +1, +1, +0) (more like a Fate Core pyramid) or something else entirely?
Any advice would be appreciated.
You’re in luck! I discussed approach hacking extensively in 2015: http://www.deadlyfredly.com/2015/09/fae-q-approach-alts/
A friend and I are using the rules to make a game in the dragonball universe trying to make a supplement.
Hello!
I have been running and playing FAE for some years. I have a short magic-system supplement and another on languages, plus some canned adventures. Is there a good place to post them?

Hi, I am about starting to GM FAE soon. To my daughter first, since in my country nearly everybody plays only D&D and Pathfinder. Which I have grown bored ever since played games like Fiasco and some of PbtA.
However, I’m a bit baffled by one thing. I’ve found it is not enough to learn the Fate rules. I need first to unlearn D&D…
While trying to understand the practical application of Aspects and things like Overcome (which is underused, as far as I’ve asked around in forums), I have watched a good deal of live session recordings. And in nearly all of them I seem people playing… D&D with Fate rules. Meaning, combat-centric, with scanty social stuff. No wonder so many people try Fate and then proclaim it does not work for them.
Only once I found a guy telling Fate is to be played different from traditional RPG’s – but, then, I lost that link. Still trying to figure out how Fate really works. Not having lots of time for experimenting (that’s saved for playtesting my own designs) I would be happy to see some live recordings played in the way designer meant it to be. Are there any? If not, maybe let’s produce some together?
RE: Amazon Pricing
It’s often cover price as an add on when other purchases make the shipping not a full loss. I got it for $4.50 as an add on to dice and a boardgame order.
