Wishing could get a Mouse hero deck 🙁
You can! We hit that stretch goal!
It won’t be as an official expansion but all KS backers will get one, and we’ll probably sell them for extra on the webstore too.
Maybe I’ve overlooked something between the comments and the kickstarter page, but I’m not finding anything that states whether or not the character variant cards will be made available to non-backers at some point. Could you please clarify? Thank you.
The Mouse deck + variant pack will be put up for sale on the Evil Hat webstore around about when the game goes into public (non-Kickstarter) preorder. It won’t be free and (in my experience) the shipping math doesn’t work out favorably for a single lightweight item due to the handling charges we have to pass along, but it’ll be a good thing to toss into the shopping cart when picking up other items from us as well.
Does using the expansion decks allow for more players? We have a quite large group of Dresden fans here…
Play caps at five players even with the expansion, but if you look at the card counts, I bet you could derive a way to play it with more 🙂
Anyone know who Hank Walker – Sun God For Hire is?
Ra, aka Hank Walker, is a character crossing over from Greater Than Games’ Sentinels of the Multiverse game. 🙂
You *can* play 6-player with only 3-card hands, but I wouldn’t recommend it, which is why we capped the player count at 5 players. That said if you’re up for an extra challenge (including the possibility that the board will be locked up & can’t be won) you could try seating a second table that plays without the Harry deck. Also not something I’d recommend, but it’s possible to do (if not always possible to win without Harry).
What about Bob? Will he be a playable character, or enter in as a Advantage card?
Will there be a Marcone deck?
Nope; makes no sense; he’s very rarely a “sidekick”/”ally” in terms of occupying a consistent role in the stories. His place is showing up in whatever relevant way he does in the design of various book decks.
any plans on additional expansions?
Yep, two more coming out next year!
Love that we’re getting the new expansions! Question about future though…since this will catch us up with all released books would future expansions wait for two books, or would we see some character-only expansions to keep interest high? Perhaps a 3-4 character expansion in lieu of 2 character and 2 books?
We haven’t started any sort of planning for a 6th expansion or beyond yet. A few potential paths have occurred to me personally, but since (as you note) we’re catching up with the novels with expansions 4 & 5, we’ve got some time to sort out what the best path is.
Cool, sounds great! Thank you souch for your continued awesomeness with this project, Fred!
Any plans on releasing Brief Cases as an expansion or including parts of it in the side jobs deck?
Seeing as that book came out, what, three minutes or so ago, and that we are just this coming week releasing two new expansions bringing us up to Skin Game, feels a bit early to be talking about Brief Cases at all. 🙂
One can hope 🙂 thank you for update on release btw. In the words of a great philosopher, yoink!!
Is the winter knight expansion able to replace Harry in game play? Since Harry is supposed to be in every game.
Hi Sara! That’s exactly the intent. The deck divider insert for each of the characters in expansion 5 should make it clear that those two character decks are intended as swap-ins for the “originals”.
I bought every expansion, really love the game and the books. i have three questions i hope i can write them down with few spoilers as i can.
1. I really love playing the scenarios with the same characters as the one who are active in the books. can someone recommend which character to take in ghost story?
2. Following the last question, when exactly, the winter knight comes in and replace the “original”?
3. Most of the sidejobs have elements from different books, is there a way to sort them up by that beside build a deck at random?
Omer:
1) Fitting characters would be Winter Knight Harry, Molly (either version, she’s “transitional” here), Mortimer Lindquist at the core.
2) During or after Changes.
3) Not really. The deck’s elements are largely taken from short stories, often accounting for only a couple cards per story.
